ViaggiaTreno wins the prestigious eContent Award Italy 2006 for eGovernment
The prize was awarded for results achieved in the “Creation of value-added services to the public"

The website of Trenitalia www.viaggiatreno.it , the new online service giving information in real time on railway traffic, jointly with the official website of the Carabinieri has won the prestigious "eContent Award Italy" prize under the eGovernment section, for the results reached in the “Creation of value-added services to the public”.

eContent Award Italy (www.econtentaward.it ) is created by MEDICI Framework within the World Summit Award and is co-organised with the Foundation of the Milan Polytechnic under the aegis of the UN and ITU, and of the Presidency of the Italian Republic. The prize, examining contents belonging to the categories of eBusiness, eCulture, eEntertainment eGovernment, eHealth, eInclusion, eLearning, and eScience, sets out to promote creativity and innovation among new media, select the best digital contents from Italy and promote their international distribution.

The victory clinched by ViaggiaTreno in eContent Award Italy was decided on by an international jury panel of over 50 experts with skills ranging from specialist to interdisciplinary sectors. With its website, Trenitalia may represent Italy at the prestigious World Summit Award 2007, the world prize, which will take place in 2007 under the aegis of the United Nations.

At the prize-giving ceremony, which was held on 12 December 2006, ViaggiaTreno was also awarded the prize for best website, again for eGovernment, by the Milan Chamber of Commerce within the scope of the Forum Net Economy initiative.
