Services for wheelchair travellers

Chair for disabled passengers
Over 260 average- and long-distance trains (Intercity, Eurocity, Eurostar Italia (ETR 460, 480 and 500) have a carriage with seats equipped for two wheelchair passengers plus two companions (recognizable by international symbol visible from outside).
Wheelchair travellers are ensured equipped places subject to verification of availability, by contacting the Disabled Assistance Centres ("CAD"), or by calling the Italy-wide helpline on 199 30 30 60.

Access to the carriages is by special lifts operated by dedicated Trenitalia personnel.
Areas dedicated to wheelchair passengers have a large window and several accessories (table, handrail, assistance call button, etc.) and are situated close to suitable toilets/restrooms .
Passengers can move from their foldable wheelchairs to seats, and can also travel on the trains without dedicated services after arranging to do so with the Disabled Assistance Centre over assistance formalities.
