The Fleet

Fully renewed and reviewed in their design and services, the Alta Velocità trains ensure journey comfort, quality of materials, technology, safety and performance. The Alta Velocità fleet has 2 types of fully-renovated trains to ensure journey comfort, quality of the materials, technology, safety and speed:

• ETR 500 Alta Velocità
• ETR 485

Plus investments have been made in 2 sub-fleets of trains have also been bought that will become operative in the next few years :

The fleets share common graphic traits (coordinated image, livery, interior furnishings and fittings) and of the code of excellence of the services. 

Logo

The high speed - or AV - logo has been created by Giugiaro and represents the sleek lines of the chromed monogram of two rails that, extending into the distance and merging, like the optical illusion of speed at 300 kph”. This concept was the starting point of the Alta Velocità train look: modern and stylish yet sporty and fast.

Design

A sober and elegant taste, with warm and welcoming colours using shades of brown: these are elements that best express Italian style according to Giugiaro design. The Alta Velocità Eurostar Italia trains, for both first and second class, present new fabrics for the seats and interior wall finishings, all in full respect of European legislation.
The aesthetic solution for the train was designed to express the idea of technological innovation and of high performance. Thus an aggressive style was given to the nose, the elegant line of which is enhanced by tones of grey; the choice of colour combination is taken up on all the flanks of the cars. The effect greeting passengers on the platform is reaffirmed in the interiors: the look & feel is warm, the furnishings display much care taken over details in terms of convenience and functionality.

Safety

The New "Tilting" Trains are built to the requirements of safety and of compliance to the parameters for interoperability in the European railway system. The aerodynamic profile of the nose, in addition to its aesthetics, contains within the "energy absorber", an innovative device that ensures high safety levels.
The technological apparatus also supports the land<>train and on-board<>on-board communications, thus facilitating contacts between personnel support and driving personnel, as well as between on-board personnel and the passengers.

Exclusive comfort

It's a new way of spending time while travelling that first and foremost must be both useful and enjoyable. Thus the new trains redesigned by Giugiaro are not only an expression of excellence of Italian design but also provide a unique experience of comfort and well-being in carriages that are very well sound-proofed.
The seats have been designed to ensure greatest convenience thanks to their anatomically-modelled seats, reclinable backrests and the brand new accessories in the "ergonomic column", with all its controls of all the accessories for customer comfort (power sockets, audio sockets, reading light, etc.).
The sound system in the interiors has been designed to favour relaxation.
Every Eurostar Italia Alta Velocità enjoys all the comforts including decor tables with 4 integrated power sockets, anatomic reclinable seats, enhanced roominess with more leg-space, sunscreen, capacious bin, aluminum refuse bin.
