By inaugurating of the branch track which, from Piraineto station links the Palermo-Trapani line to "Falcone-Borsellino" Airport, Trenitalia has opened the new connection between Palermo and Punta Raisi Airport.
The "Trinacria express" runs along the north-western area of Sicily. The service departs at 40 minutes past the hour from Punta Raisi and 10 past the hour from Palermo. This standard timetable is integrated with further services in some time bands in both directions, every day from 5 am until midnight approximately, with departures at 40 mins. past the hour from Punta Raisi and 10 mins. past the hour from Palermo. Some 24 train services run in both directions.
To cover the distance between the two end stations, the trains take 45 minutes,
stopping at Vespri, Orleans, Notarbartolo, Francia and at the branch
station of Piraineto, where the "Trinacria express" also serves
travellers arriving from the Trapani basin. A single ticket, one-class only between Palermo and Punta Raisi costs 4.50 euro
and can be bought at Trenitalia's ticket desks in Sicily and elsewhere
in Italy, including the agencies and approved points of sale. Fares for
the journeys to and from other stations of the region instead are given depending on the departure station. In addition to the one-way tickets also multi-journey booklets are available containing six tickets, for 23.00 euro, and the monthly season ticket (49.00 euro).

while travelling in comfort. Using in the Trinacria Express also allows
you to leave your car in the guarded car-parks of via Giordano
(Notarbartolo Station) and via del Vespro (Vespri metropolitan stop) at
park-and-ride prices that include the cost of your rail ticket and car
parking.
